The Certified Off-Campus Housing Program was established to improve safety and security for students and residents living in off campus housing facilities. This program was developed in collaboration with law enforcement and fire safety professionals and adds a secondary level of security measures designed to enhance existing practices.
How The Program Works
- Request program information from the PEACE OUTside CAMPUS - The Lindsey M. Bonistall Foundation. This can be accomplished through email or by contacting us by the phone on the number listed. Click here
- A program package will be sent to the Owner/Landlord with the standards for certification and the process for obtaining and maintaining certification.
- Once the Owner/Landlord has made the security and safety upgrades (if needed) they will request a specified time and date(s) for the inspection.
- The Foundation will coordinate inspection teams that will perform the analysis for the property. All units must be available to view at the time of the inspection.
- The results of the inspection are sent to the Owner/Landlord. If the property has passed the inspection, a letter certifying the property from the Foundation is also sent. The property is then listed on this web site as a certified property. The listing should also be carried by the University/College web site and by municipality.
- If the property did not pass inspection, the Owner/Landlord will be given up to ninety days to make the corrections and be re-inspected.
